Studienkolleg an der Hochschule Wismar
At Studienkolleg an der Hochschule Wismar, every applicant sits the same entrance test (Aufnahmetest), whatever the track: German: reading (60 min) and German: listening (40 min) and German: language structures (30 min) and Mathematics (30 min).
Wismar offers a T-Kurs and a W-Kurs. The German test has three parts, reading, listening and language structures, followed by maths. The Kolleg publishes a full past test with solutions.
German: reading · 60 min
Reading comprehension tasks on a text.
German: listening · 40 min
Listening comprehension tasks.
German: language structures · 30 min
Grammar and vocabulary tasks.
Mathematics · 30 min
The sample starts with simplifying terms: fractions, powers, brackets and algebraic fractions.
Generated by the same engine as the Kollego course, at a level close to the entrance math. Pick an answer in your head, then open the solution.
1. Use (x + 6)² = x² + 12x + 36 to evaluate it at x = 2.
Answer: 64
(x + a)² = x² + 2ax + a².
2² + 12·2 + 36 = 4 + 24 + 36 = 64.
2. Solve |x − 6| < 5. What is the (exclusive) upper bound of the solution interval?
Answer: 11
|x − a| < b means a − b < x < a + b.
1 < x < 11, so the upper bound is 11.
3. Solve for x: 4(x − 1) + 10 = 2x − 2
Answer: -4
Expand, collect x-terms on one side, constants on the other, divide.
Expand: 4x − 4 + 10 = 2x − 2, then isolate x.
