What the test contains

Try sample questions

Generated by the same engine as the Kollego course, at a level close to the entrance math. Pick an answer in your head, then open the solution.

  1. 1. 2x + 2y = 24 2x + y = 18 Find y.

    • a6
    • b7
    • c5
    • d12
    Show solution

    Answer: 6

Scale one equation so a coefficient matches, subtract to eliminate, back-substitute.

Eliminate one variable, solve for the other, substitute back.

  2. 2. Solve for x: √(2x − 13) = 1

    • a6
    • b-7
    • c8
    • d7
    Show solution

    Answer: 7

Square both sides to remove the root, then isolate x. Since the right side is already ≥ 0 here, squaring introduces no extraneous root, but always check that the expression under the root is ≥ 0 for your solution.

    Square both sides: 2x − 13 = 1² = 1. x = (1 + 13) / 2 = 7. Check: 2(7) − 13 = 1 = 1², and √1 = 1 ✓.

  3. 3. What is the slope of the line through (2, 0) and (6, 12)?

    • a4
    • b2
    • c3
    • d-3
    Show solution

    Answer: 3

    Slope = (y2 − y1) / (x2 − x1).

    (12 − 0) / (6 − 2) = 12 / 4 = 3.
