What the test contains

Try sample questions

Generated by the same engine as the Kollego course, at a level close to the entrance math. Pick an answer in your head, then open the solution.

  1. 1. Evaluate: log₂(4)

    • a4
    • b3
    • c1
    • d2
    Show solution

    Answer: 2

logₐ(x) asks: to what power must a be raised to get x?

    2² = 4, so log₂(4) = 2.

  2. 2. Simplify 6x − 5 + 4x + 4, then evaluate at x = 2.

    • a-1
    • b18
    • c20
    • d19
    Show solution

    Answer: 19

Combine like terms first, then substitute the value of x.

    Simplified: 10x − 1. At x = 2: 10·2 − 1 = 20 − 1 = 19.

  3. 3. In a right triangle the hypotenuse is 40 and sin θ = 6/10. How long is the side opposite θ?

    • a6
    • b24
    • c16
    • d32
    Show solution

    Answer: 24

    sin θ = opposite / hypotenuse, so opposite = hypotenuse · sin θ.

    40 · (6/10) = 24.
